Optum introduces Rory Mcllory, our Health Ambassador

Optum is excited to partner with champion golfer Rory McIlroy in a partnership that leverages our shared passion for using technology to advance health and have a real, meaningful and lasting impact. Rory and Optum are focused on using data and analytics to gain insight and improve outcomes, on and off the golf course.

We’re here today at Sawgrass filming a commercial and creating assets around a partnership we have with Rory McIlroy.

Benjamin Meents:

So much of what inspires us about Rory in his game of golf is his focus, his passion, his intense dedication to the sport, and he’s bringing that same passion and intellectual curiosity to health care.

Candy Hanneman:

For Optum to be partnered with a person that exemplifies all those things is just extraordinary.

Rory McIlroy:

When I had the opportunity to become a health ambassador for Optum, I jumped at that chance.

I take my health and wellness very seriously. It’s very important to me and being healthy, being of mind and body, is a big factor in me performing to the best of my ability on the golf course.

Lance Jensen:

When they came to us and said that Rory is going to be joining their team as an ambassador, we thought that would be a nice metaphor because the game of golf is also one of thousand different data points that the player needs to take in at any given moment to be at peak performance.

David Holm:

This was a unique opportunity because the initial creative that came through was tapping into Rory’s sort of state of mind before he takes a shot, and sort of all the calculations that he has to make regarding the hole and everything going on around him.

 

 

 

 

Rory McIlroy:

I’m very focused on the “how” part of winning and performing well, and analytics, data, all that sort of stuff goes into it. So it’s an exciting way to kick-off the partnership with a shoot here today.

Candy Hanneman:

I think the HOW campaign really focuses for our employees the fact that what they do every day really impacts people’s lives.

Benjamin Meents:

Because really, they are the HOW. Each employee has a role in how it is that we’re transforming health care.

Terry Clark:

As we look at the next decade and where we go with Optum, this brand is really going to stand for so much in redefining what health care means.

Rory McIlroy:

I’m excited, I’m having fun and I just thought that it was a really neat opportunity to do something that was important to me and partner with a company that aligns a lot with the values I have.
