COVID-19 has shown the world must be better prepared to identify, respond to and, recover from global health emergencies.

In response, Dame Sally Davies is bringing together a network of 22 global leaders from the private, public and academic sectors to identify and reward the best thinking to better protect us all.

We will review all applications with our coalition of members an match the most outstanding with the best support.

Our independent judges will assess the progress made and the solutions with the most potential will receive rewards from a pool of £10 million.

What are the Challenge categories?

The Trinity Challenge welcomes innovation and forward-thinking ideas. To participate, ideas and concepts should address at least one of these three areas.

Identification

We need to know where outbreaks are likely to occur and why, and to identify interventions to reduce risk.

Response

We need to know what actions are effective — and their societal and economic costs — to reduce transmission and spread.

Recovery

We need to know how to address the disproportionate health and economic impact of outbreaks and pandemics.

The Trinity Challenge is one part of the world’s commitment to be better prepared to identify, respond to and recover from a public health crisis like COVID-19. We are action-oriented, and all efforts are directed toward generating new insights and solutions to protect people worldwide from health emergencies.

We are committed to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals agenda, the WHO’s target of 1 billion more people better protected from health emergencies, and to strengthening vulnerable health systems.

COVID-19 and previous pandemics have shown and forced us to experience the health, social and economic impacts that health emergencies wreak on the world. We need to take action to improve our response to the current pandemic and especially ensure that we are better prepared for next time.

Together, we can better predict, prevent, respond to and mitigate future health emergencies.
